I have been the Director of Life Management at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, MA since 1993. In my work there and in my private practice, I work with individuals, couples, families and businesses to enhance their health, well-being, performance, and relationships.
My approach to therapy is both creative and practical. I help people recognize and build on their strengths, while learning skills to manage stress, think constructively and enhance relationships. I use a variety of techniques to help people learn about themselves, handle their emotions, and deal with life challenges. Some of these approaches include mindfulness, meditation, hypnotherapy and biofeedback. I also utilize EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to help individuals recover from the effect of trauma and cultivate desired qualities. Some of the issues people come to me for include anxiety, depression, addiction, stress-related conditions, weight management, health problems, relationship problems and career issues.
Personal & Executive Coaching
My coaching work involves helping individuals to make positive changes in their career or personal life. Although many of the techniques and issues addressed and the methods used in coaching are similar to therapy, there are some important differences. Therapy tends to focus on treating emotional conditions or solving interpersonal problems. Coaching, on the other hand, is directed more toward identifying and achieving personal and professional goals. I do both personal coaching, focused on lifestyle and relationship goals, and executive coaching, focused on work and career goals.
Family Business Consulting
I work with families in business to help them develop strategies for constructive communication, planning and problem-solving. I help them work together to maximize long-term business success and maintain family harmony. My work includes succession planning, family meetings/councils, relationship coaching, executive assessment/coaching and corporate team-building. Since 1999, I’ve been a lecturer and facilitator for the Families in Business Program at Harvard Business School. I have helped families from all over the world establish effective means of communication, governance, role clarification, conflict resolution and long-term planning.
I lecture and lead workshops on a variety of topics related to health/wellness, emotional intelligence, conflict management and family business dynamics.
